Chakras are considered the wheels of power where universal energy enters the human body. To learn more about the seven major chakras, you can read my previous blog post HERE.
The sacral (or second) chakra is linked to a woman’s reproductive system. It is also the center of creative expression, emotions, sexuality, relationships, pleasure, and fun.
A woman with an imbalanced sacral chakra will often experience feeling “weighed down” by her emotions, along with health issues such as chronic yeast infections, infertility, kidney stones, or endometriosis. This is also the chakra related to an inability to take action on your creative potential. Any of this sound familiar?
More About the Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is associated with the color orange, which is in great abundance right now during the autumn here in New York as this post is being written. Pumpkins anyone?
Through its connection to the water in our cells, this chakra also connects our bodies to the world around us and all those who inhabit it. It represents sharing with and receiving from others. It is the center of raw, chaotic emotions, creativity, and sensuality.
Core Issues Associated with the Sacral Chakra
Still not sure if this chakra may be an energetic issue for you? Here are some core issues related to an imbalance in the sacral chakra:
Ability to commit to a relationship. Ability to express the self and emotions. Ability to play and have fun, enjoy pleasure and passion. Acceptance of uniqueness in a diversified whole. Attitudes toward men and women. Attitudes toward sexuality. Implementation of creativity. Movement of emotions through their cycle. In addition to the health issues mentioned above, if you happen to feel “stuck” in any of these areas or they are frequent concerns for you, it may be a sign that there is an imbalance in your sacral chakra. Balancing the Sacral Chakra
When functioning optimally, our sacral chakra allows us to “go with the flow” of life and follow our creative expression without judgment. I had no idea what chakras were back when I was diagnosed with endometriosis [read more about that in my previous blog post titled “Endometriosis: My Story of Hope” HERE], but I did know that, as a chemical engineer working in a manufacturing facility, I felt completely shut off from any creative expression. I’d try to pursue my creative hobbies on the weekends, but with little spare time, they were pushed aside for my “real life”.
Below are a few ways to bring your sacral chakra back into balance (excerpted from a blog post by Silver Lined Days):
While these actions may start you on the road to healing, the body’s energy system is complex. Without a one-on-one energy session, it’s impossible to say which activities would benefit you most. But don’t despair! I’ve got your back. For a more comprehensive analysis of your sacral chakra and a full list of tools to balance it (including gemstones, essential oils, affirmations, foods, and activities), I’ve created a pdf mini-guide, “Helpful Tips to Balance Your Sacral Chakra”
I hope you’ve found this information helpful. If you do try any of the sacral chakra balancing techniques, I’d love to hear how it works for you.
